Disappointing

Thursday, March 20, 2014

This title could apply to my frequency of posts so far this calendar year....BUT I think it more aptly applies to the first day of "Spring" today.  I had high hopes for this day: the sun was shining when I left for school, it was (somewhat) warm...Nope.  As the day progressed, snow started to fall and the wind kicked up with a vengeance.  After I left school 7 hours later, it was much colder and the clouds ominously hung overhead.

While I might be just a tad dramatic about the weather, I think it's completely warranted.  It seems as if this winter will never end and I won't get the opportunity to wear my cute spring clothes!  Despite my worries, I still decided to put some pastels on this morning to welcome Spring.  I just hope the warmer weather isn't going to disappoint me much longer. :)

Oops I Did it Again

Wednesday, September 4, 2013

I'm not just quoting the infamous '90s Britney Spears song in my title. I feel as if I keep doing this with TPC. I'll write a post or two, skip a week. Write a post or two, skip a week. I can honestly say after this past week and a half of my new schedule, posting regularly is going to be extremely difficult. You readers are the reason why I enjoy writing The Petite Chronicles so much and I apologize for my inconsistent posts. Thank you so much again for reading and for all of your support!

Since starting high school all over again on the other end as the teacher, I've truly enjoyed every second I'm at school. My students and coworkers have made this internship so much fun and I've learned so much already. These past couple of days I've felt this overwhelming sense of joy and peace. As in, this is what I'm supposed to be doing. I know the year is only going to get more stressful, but it's my hope that the feeling of joy remains.

I wore a different variation of this outfit to school, with hot pink dress pants (you'll get to see them in the future, I promise) and black flats. I changed into this version for my evening class and I think I like the color combo better.

I hope everyone had a great long weekend! Happy Hump Day!

Blind

Wednesday, July 17, 2013

I want to share something that's been weighing on my heart lately. I'm sorry if I get cheesy, or you don't follow TPC for insights on life. If that's the case, by all means scroll to the outfit pictures, you won't hurt my feelings!

I know a lot of other women can relate, but body image is and always has been  an issue for me. I have a hard time seeing myself (My 5'0' frame of curves and not-very-toned muscles) in a positive light. I find myself wishing I had some other girl's skinny thighs, large chest, and perfectly curved waist...because the media defines that as 'beautiful' or 'sexy.' Because, God forbid a girl has some bumps and her hips require her to wear a size 6, 8, 10, or larger rather than the 00s and 2s that society deems 'fit.' (Not to say women who wear 00s or 2s aren't beautiful by any means!)

What I'm trying to say is...I have a hard time stomaching the fact that young women's minds are so perforated with adds picturing models who are photoshopped to perfection. To the point where many women use this false advertising as the standard for beauty. We have become so blind to the most important aspects of life in the pursuit of lost inches, toned butts, and a smaller jean size.

My intention in this post was not to go on a rant, but merely express the exasperation and pain I experience when I struggle with body image and see other women do the same. I want to look more positively at myself and help other women do so as well. (Here comes the cheesy part) It's an obvious (but not always recognized) truth: every woman is beautiful in her own way, it's just a matter of seeing it.

Trademark

Monday, April 22, 2013

I think if The Petite Chronicles (aka me) had a trademark, it would be bright lips. Regardless of what I'm wearing, my go-to statement is a vivid lipstick. Thankfully, with my light skin, I can pull off a plethora of colors. I've tried a few different brands and I actually find that Maybelline stays on very well.

My trademark began junior year of college. I was wearing a navy blue dress to our spring formal, but I wanted to make a statement. On a whim, I picked up a bright pink lipstick to wear. I got a ton of compliments that night and had an extra boost of confidence underneath those vibrant pink lips. Now, it's one of my favorite features to wear and is quite cheap to change up a lot. You know it's a keeper when it combines those two!

Thank you so much for linking up with the Bloglovin' Collective last week! I'm really excited to get to know all of you new followers :)

Obsessed

Monday, April 1, 2013

You know that mint color that's been blowing up in stores all over? Mint is everywhere! Well, color me obsessed (pun intended). I went shopping over Spring Break and half of the clothes I bought were mint colored. No joke. I can't seem to get enough of the light greenish hue.
I saw these capris and I instantly fell in love. Funny thing is, when I tried them on, they turned out more like cut offs than capris. Such is the life of a short gal. How was everyone's Easter? Mine was very low-key being away from home. If you follow me on Instagram, you'll see I made fried chicken for the first time and I was really pleased how it turned out! Have a Happy Monday!

Bloglovin' & An Outfit

Friday, March 15, 2013

I'm sure it comes as no surprise to you, but it was just announced that Google Reader will be saying "bye-bye" on July 1st. As a (fairly) new blogger, I was surprised to hear the news and decided to take a new course of action ASAP for you followers to continue getting updates from The Petite Chronicles. On the little doodly bar to the left, you can now find a 'follow by email' tab. If you wish to get updates from me via email, you can now do so!

Another way you can follow The Petite Chronicles, is through Bloglovin' (Also in the doodly bar). I think Bloglovin' will be the site to take over Google Reader. If you're new to Bloglovin', it's really quick and simple to sign up. Although I was a little confused by the layout initially, I've found it to be a great tool for keeping up with all of the blogs I follow. As such, if you would like to follow TPC via Bloglovin' that would be splendiferous!
I want to thank all of my readers (yes, you!) for your support; you're the reason I get dressed in the morning...and I'm not sure how my professors would react to pajamas.

Since I've talked too much already, here's an outfit for you that marries spring color with winter warmth! I hope you have a lovely weekend!

The Future

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

This post is going to be a little real for a second. I'm writing this in between preparing for two exams and doing my homework for the day. Quite honestly, there are days I wish I could do this full time rather than write papers or read history exerpts. That is not the case though. My hope and dream is to teach high school English and History someday in the near future. As an English major with a History minor, it's easy to lose sight of that dream. Thankfully, I have some great news that will hopefully keep me motivated through the rest of this semester. I recently found out that I've been accepted into the Masters program at Penn State and I will be teaching/interning at the local high school next year. I'm thrilled to be one step closer to my dream! Sometimes I have to pinch myself in disbelief at how lucky I am to have such a fantastic opportunity!
What then, does this mean for The Petite Chronicles? Well, I have not decided as of yet, but I can tell you that in the fall there will be a lot more school appropriate outfits. I hope you stick around with me for this crazy ride. No worries though, there will be plenty of outfit posts in these next few months! As for this one, I saw something similar on Pinterest and decided to throw my own version together. It has a lot of color in it, but with the winter weather that refuses to leave, I need color right now.

Rawr

Wednesday, December 12, 2012

This is the third or fourth time I've worn these little booties and I can honestly say they're the most comfortable heels I own. I've had my eye on them for a while on Target's website and my mom got them for me over break as an early Christmas present! In the short amount of time that I've owned them, I've probably walked well over two miles in them (up and downhill too) and haven't had a single problem yet! They were definitely well worth the wait!
As for the rest of my outfit, I decided to be a little loud today with my leopard print sweater and bright accessories. I feel a little wild every time I wear this sweater, like I belong in the jungle or something. Next thing you know, I'll be crawling around and roaring at people. I wouldn't put it past me.

Oh, and mark today in your calendars ladies, on 12/12/12 I actually fixed my hair today!
