Summer Uniform

Thursday, June 13, 2013

I'm pretty sure if I could, I would wear some combination of a light blouse, shorts, and sandals every day this summer. There's something so effortless about this outfit that just plain makes sense for hot days. Throw a statement necklace and bright purse with it and BAM! you've got a summer uniform that isn't just shorts and a t-shirt. (D'you like that little Emeril pizzazz I threw in there?)

In other news, I recently found out I get to see my handsome man, C in a little over a week! It will be three weeks since I saw him last, but anything is better than 3 months (Which incidentally, we did the first summer we were dating). It'll be so nice to get away and see him for a short weekend! And do some packing for a date night or two ;)

Do you have a summer uniform you'll be wearing over and over these next couple of months?

Hairs & Pairs

Monday, March 11, 2013

Do you ever get annoyed if people don't notice you got a hair cut? I know it's a bit selfish, but I really like my new hair and no one said a word to me today. I can completely understand if people don't notice that I changed a minor detail, but I got a good 6 inches chopped off. My dad on the other hand, says the same joke as always when I show/tell him I got a hair cut. "Don't you mean you got your hairs cut?" It cracks him up every time.

Off the topic of hair and onto this outfit. I love the colors! When I bought this sweater after I got the gingham top, I instantly knew I was going to pair them together. The colors compliment one another so well I can't help myself. Can I say how truly wonderful it is not to have to wear boots? My tootsies certainly are not appreciative. I can feel the blisters forming from my feet adjusting to flats. Those suckers are just going to have to deal though, because I am not putting on boots for as long as I can. Have a Happy Monday!

An Ode to Blazers

Tuesday, December 4, 2012

Blazers, your instant chic and pulled together appearance makes me love thee. When I have little time to dress myself, you make me look like I have my act together. For that, I'm thankful for thee in my life and I will always wear thee.
Can you tell we read Keats in class today? My ode is not even close to his, or contains any rhyme scheme for that matter. If I plan on making it as a poet, I should probably work on my rhyming. Luckily for me, and you for that matter, I'm not an aspiring poet.
I just want to share something with you that my boyfriend told me. So I have three pieces of bad news for you:
1. Today is not Friday
2. Tomorrow is not Friday
3. The day after tomorrow is not Friday!
Ah well, Happy Tuesday! I hope your week is going well!

Abby-Normal

Friday, September 7, 2012

I received a couple of compliments on my outfit today, which was a little abnormal, but a nice change of pace. Normally I feel like people stare at me and wonder why I'm wearing a skirt or dressed nicely. Most people ask, "Why are you dressed so nice?" to which I always reply, "For kicks and giggles."
So why do I dress nicer, when most college girls wear shirts and t-shirts to class? I'm going to refrain from my normal answer with you, and answer truthfully.
There are a number of reasons why I dress nice. The first can be summed up through the following quote by Rachel Zoe, "Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak." I like to express myself through my style and what I put on my body. The second reason to be honest, is that I have a lot of clothes. I would feel extremely guilty for purchasing said clothes and wearing t-shirts everyday. The final reason is that I feel more confident and receive a nice dose of happiness from looking my best (I think this applies to everyone). Part of that is the fact that you don't know who you're going to run into, but you always want to look your best. It's a little trick I picked up from watching What Not to Wear for the past 5 years.
I hope you took something from this and I apologize for the longer than normal post, now ON TO THE OUTFIT!

Fail.

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

I had a really cute outfit on yesterday and I felt absolutely adorable in it! Naturally, I took outfit pictures, but I went to put them on my computer and I forgot to put my memory card in the camera. -_- <- that's legitimately what my face looked like. Fail numero uno.
Second fail in the past 24 hours? Agreeing to work up through the day before I leave. Yep, that's right folks, I'm leaving for school on Friday and I work tonight and tomorrow. I'm attempting to get everything I need to packed and/or together, but I still need to do loads of running. I feel like I'm going crazy trying to (pardon my French) get my s*!t together.
I'm not sure when I'll learn that I need to give myself time to pack and get my running done before school starts. It's my senior year and I still haven't figured it out. With all of the fails that have happened in the past 24 hours, my outfit is definitely not one of them! I've had this in the back of my mind for the longest time because I absolutely love this color combo. Do you ever have those days when you experience fail after fail, but you look fabulous? I hope not, but good outfits are always a plus to a bad day!

Hiding

Sunday, July 15, 2012

The title of this post is appropriate in several ways: 1. I feel like my eyes are hiding behind these long bangs, like a sheepdog, man I can't wait to get my hair cut! 2. Behind me is normally my inordinate amount of makeup (yes, I'll admit to my make up addiction) that I took measures to move out of the picture. Maybe someday I'll be brave enough to show you the full amount! 3. Also "hiding" are the stacks of magazines, books, etc. that have yet to find a home in my tiny room. There you have it! Lots of hiding going on around here folks, but no seeking! Hey, my cleaning up for you means a lot considering I don't do so normally ;)

I hope y'all have had a lovely weekend! Mine was spent relaxing quite a bit and I re-learned how to use my sewing machine! YAY! My first project was to alter a J.Crew dress I thrifted because the straps were a little too long (short people problems). I was SO nervous, but it actually turned out great! Be sure to check back tomorrow for a look at my birthday outfit (aka this awesome dress) ;) Have a great rest of your weekend!!
